Using Reiki For Positive Change

As we step into the new year, many of us take stock of our lives and decide what habits we want to get rid of and what goals we want to achieve. The new year is a fresh start – a time for casting off the old and outworn aspects of our lives and ushering in the new. However, there are times when this is easier said than done. 

  All too often we try to make certain changes in our lives without acknowledging that our energy is still invested in the past or that our minds are still churning out negative stories and expectations. When this is the case, all our efforts to create the life that we want will feel wasted and pointless, despite our good intentions. By changing our energy first, the manifestation of goals in the physical realm will feel smoother and easier. 

  From time to time I have struggled with this issue and I have found Reiki to be of great help in uplifting and directing my energy. Reiki (pronounced ray-kee, which means “universal life energy”) is a form of energy healing that was developed in Japan in the 1920’s. During a Reiki session, the client usually lies on a massage table, fully clothed, while the practitioner places their hands on or near the clients body and channels this universal energy. The experience is relaxing and peaceful and afterwards one usually feels lighter and calmer. 

  Reiki can help you improve your energy in various ways. Over time, the aura and other energetic bodies, such as the chakras, can get bogged down with denser energies that may be left over from negative experiences, feelings, thoughts and beliefs. During a Reiki session, energy moves through the physical and energetic bodies, stirring up and bringing to light those issues and beliefs that are no longer serving us. Since we aren’t always aware of what exactly is keeping us stuck, this can be an important step.

  Once there is awareness of what needs to change or be released, Reiki can accelerate that period of transition and make it more pleasant and harmonious. As Reiki cleanses the aura and chakras of the old energies, it fills them with healing light and energy, allowing them to become lighter, brighter and healthier. This often translates into generally feeling better, both physical and emotionally, allowing you to create a more positive and harmonious life for yourself. Since thoughts and feelings are strongly linked to our energy body, directing our thoughts in a positive way can also bring about major energetic changes. When you pair Reiki with the intention to make your thoughts more uplifting and release any outmoded beliefs and energies, the results can be powerful.

  You can experience Reiki through a session with a Reiki practitioner or you can even learn Reiki, which allows you to channel energy on yourself or trade sessions with other students. However you choose to bring Reiki into your life, you will be amazed at how beneficial it can be in facilitating positive changes and helping you remain calm and centered.
